Build your lowering kit the easy way

2007-13 Silverado/Sierra 1500 4wd ext/crew cab Lowering Kit Builder

The 2007 to 2013 Silverado and Sierra 1500 4wd trucks are very popular to lower and we've provided you with some easy options to do it the way you want.

The front of these trucks can be lowered either with spindles or struts, or combine them for even more drop. Be aware that lowering the front of your 4wd Silverado or Sierra more than 2 inches may cause premature front drive axle wear. For the easiest fine tuning you'll want to use a set of Belltech coilovers which are adjusted using the included spanner wrench.

In the rear of your truck you have a lot of options but once you decide how low you want to go then it's a lot easier to chose. The cheapest and easiest is to replace the rear shackles with a set of the 2 inch ones from either Belltech or Maxtrac. Or get an extra inch down by using the Belltech ones listed as 3" that come with u-bolt spacers which allow you to remove the factory block for a total of 3" of lowering.

If you want to lower more that 3 inches in the rear then you need to use a flip kit which will relocate the rear axle onto the top of the leaf pack. This will drop your truck about 7 inches so the flip kits with an advertised drop of less than 7 inches give you additional components to raise it back up to the height that you want. So more drop doesn't mean more money, in fact it's the other way around.

Although there is lots of frame clearance on these trucks once you get down a lot you may find that you will bottom out with a load or when hitting bumps on the road. The solution to that problem is to use a frame notch which will provide you the clearance that you need.

And to finish it all off you will need to replace the rear shocks if you are lowering the rear more than 2 inches. Some of the Maxtrac rear kits will include the shocks so pay attention to the notes to see if you need to order them or not.
