Lowering Kit Builder Tool. The Easy Way to Build Your Lowering Kit

Our lowering selection tool for the 1999 to 2006 GMC & Chevy 1500 4WD Regular or Extended Cab, Short Box. Each kit can be selected with or without either Belltech NitroDrop 2 shocks, or Belltech Street Performance shocks.

It is time to lower your 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 or 2006 GMC / Chevy 1500 4WD truck.

The Lowering Kit is available in the following configurations.

Leaving the front at factory height the rear can be dropped by 2 inches with shackles.

Dropping the front 2 inches with keys, the rear can be dropped by 2 inches with shackles.

We have an Economy kit that drops the front by 2 inches with keys, and the rear drops 4 inches with hangers and shackles.

The Deluxe kit drops the front by 2 inches with spindles and the rear 4 inches with hangers and shackles.

To get a 4 inch drop on the front, use spindles and keys, while a flip kit and c-section are used to drop the rear by 6 inches.

Kit Notes:

  • The Rear 4 inch lowering kit does not fit trucks with a 5.5 ft bed
  •  If using spindles you must use at least a 17" wheel
  • Lowering the front of a 4wd over 2 inches will cause drive axle wear and is not recommended
  • When lowering the rear over 4 inches shorter shocks will be required

On the 1999 to 2006 Silverado and Sierra four wheel drive they use a torsion bar front suspension on all years. You can lower these trucks using a set of torsion bar keys or a set of lowering spindles. Most people chose to go with the spindles because if you use the torsion bar keys you may find that the ride quality suffers because you are very close to the front suspension bump stop. In the rear they are a traditional leaf setup unless your truck is a 2004 to 2006 crew cab 1500 short box with the 5.5 ft bed. On these trucks the front leaf hanger is welded on to the frame and can not be replaced. You can still do a 2” drop using a shackle but if you want to do more than that then you need to use a flip kit to put the axle on top of the leaf pack. It’s more work and a more expensive kit than using a hanger and shackle but you can still get up to 6 inches of drop in the back.
