Lowering Kit Builder Tool. The Easy Way to Build Your Lowering Kit

Our lowering selection tool for the 1988 to 1998 GMC & Chevy 1500 4WD Lowering Kit. Each kit can be selected with or without either Belltech NitroDrop 2 shocks, or Belltech Street Performance shocks.

This was the first 4wd truck that Belltech offered a lowering kit for. And we sold one of the first ones to land in North America way back in 1997. Why not lower your 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 or 1998 truck?

The Lowering Kit is available in the following configurations.

Leaving the front at the factory height, the rear can be lowered by 2 inches with shackles.

To bring the front down by  1 to 3 inches use keys, and the rear by 2 inches with shackles.

Drop the front by 1 to 3 inches with key and drop the rear by 4 inches with hangers and shackles.

1988 to 1998 GMC & Chevy 1500 4WD Lowering Kit. Lowering the front of one of these 4wd trucks means replacing the torsion bar keys to allow a lower adjustment on them. You will usually also need to trim or replace the bump stop.

In the rear is a standard leaf spring setup. A shackle will get you 2 inch drop, shackle / hanger combo gets you 4 inch drop and a flip kit will give you 6 to 7 inches. (The difference in drop with the flip kit is the thickness of the leaf pack. To figure out how much drop you will get measure from the bottom of the axle to the top of the leaf and add about 1/4", this will get you pretty close)

This is also the first generation that we have parts available to lower the 4x4's. Use a set of keys in the front for about 2 inches of drop and the rear is the same as the 2WD trucks.
